The Democratic members of the House Select Committee on Benghazi have released their final report on the investigation into the Sept. 11, 2012 terror attack in Libya and Republicans are responding to the document, calling it a "so-called 'report.'"

According to CNN, the Democrats said that Republicans wasted resources on "conspiracy theories that have no basis in reality" about Hillary Clinton's role in the attacks.

The report argued that military personnel could not have reached the compound in time to save the four Americans who died, Ambassador Chris Stevens, foreign services officer Sean Smith, and CIA contractors Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.

It said that State Department security at the compound was "woefully inadequate," but Clinton never denied requests for more security.

According to the report, the Republicans on the Benghazi committee caused the investigation to make history. "Decades in the future, historians will look back on this investigation as a case study in how not to conduct a credible investigation."

Republicans have said that Clinton knew the attack was planned in advance, but White House officials said the attack was spontaneous, the Washington Examiner reports.

The Republican side of the House Select Committee on Benghazi issued a statement blasting the Democrat document, saying that the majority on the committee, the Republicans, were conducting a "serious, fact-centered investigation."

"The dishonest Democrats on this committee falsely claimed every question in the probe had been 'asked and answered,'" the Republicans' statement read.

The Democrats were focused on defending Clinton, but the Republicans said it was about the four victims of the attack. According to the statement, they looked forward to revealing their report.

The statement said the Democrats apparently are focused too much on defending Clinton with her name being mentioned 334 times, but the names of the victims are mentioned far less; Stevens appears 85 times, and Woods' name appears only six times, the Examiner reports.
