Poll: Biden Holds Substantial Lead Over Sanders in Arizona

Former Vice President Joe Biden holds a nearly 30-point advantage over Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in Arizona, according to an OH Predictive Insights poll released on Monday.

Biden has the support of 45% of likely voters in the state, with only 17% backing Sanders.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., received 13% support in the survery and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg garneded 12%, although both candidates dropped out of the race after the poll was conducted.

About 40% of the state's voters have already cast their ballot for the March 17 primary, OH Predictive Insights chief of research and managing partner Mike Noble said, who also noted that Biden has a 24-point lead over the Vermont senator among those voters.

In other results from the survey:

  • Biden is leading Sanders among all ethnicities, unlike in previous states.
  • Among whites, Biden has a 42% to 17% lead.
  • Biden also has a 52% to 17% advantage among Hispanics and a 45% to 20% lead among other non-whites.

The survey was condiucted March 3-4 among a group of likely Democratic primary voters in Arizona. The sample size was 398 completed surveys, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.91 percentage points.
