The former chairman of Sen. Bernie Sanders' primary campaign said it was "clear" from the jump that the Democratic National Committee favored Hillary Clinton, but that nobody "imagined" the "formal arrangement" bombshell dropped by Donna Brazile.
In an interview with CNN's "New Day" morning program, Jeff Weaver said it was a "shocking revelation."
"It was obviously a shocking revelation although … it was pretty clear from the get-go that the DNC was in the Clinton camp, with a rigged debate schedule and a host of other interventions, including them taking away access to our voter file data in December 2015," Weaver told CNN.
"I don't think any of us imagined that there was actually a formal arrangement giving the Clinton campaign control of the DNC, that's for sure," Weaver said.
Brazile, former interim chairwoman of the DNC, torches Clinton and former chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, in a new book coming out next week.
In an excerpt published Thursday, Brazile dropped the damning news that Clinton's campaign and the DNC entered into a secret yet formal arrangement for her to run the DNC in August of 2015 because the committee was millions in debt under the haphazard leadership of Wasserman Schultz.
The move essentially froze Sanders out of any support from the DNC.
