Bloomberg Gun Group Delivers on Promise to Target Sen. Pryor

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's gun-control group is keeping its promise to run television ads against Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor of Arkansas, who many Democrats believe is in a vulnerable position as he faces re-election in 2014.

A source that tracks media spending told Politico that Mayors Against Illegal Guns has bought $350,000 in broadcast and cable air time to begin running ads Friday through June 6 targeted at Pryor's re-election bid. The ad buy is a lot of money in Arkansas, where air time is fairly inexpensive, Politico noted.

There has been a growing concern among Democrats that members of their own party who voted against the bipartisan background check gun legislation that failed in the Senate in April would become targets of gun-control groups.

Bloomberg's group has vowed to go after senators in both parties who voted against the gun bill. The group has already spent money on ads against Senate Republicans who voted against the measure, including Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona.
