Former Watergate reporter Bob Woodward's soon-to-be-released book "Fear" details "an administrative coup d'etat" and a "nervous breakdown" of the Trump administration, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.
"Fear" reportedly "paints a harrowing portrait of the Trump presidency, based on in-depth interviews with administration officials and other principals."
Woodward's self-proclaimed "tough" review, includes interviews depicting "Trump's anger and paranoia about the Russia inquiry," according to the Post, which obtained a copy of it from their Pulitzer Prize-winning writer who is now their associate editor.
"Learning of the appointment of Mueller in May 2017, Trump groused, 'Everybody's trying to get me' — part of a venting period that shell-shocked aides compared to Richard Nixon's final days as president," the Post wrote.
Wooward's stories include one of former personal attorney John Dowd giving President Trump a mock special counsel interview, which melted down into a 30-minute rant that started with "This thing's a goddamn hoax," and concluded with "I don't really want to testify," according to the report.
The Post also reported Woodward sought an interview for the book with President Trump, who only responded after it was completed in early August and complained it would be a "bad book," according to audio recordings of the conversation.
