Former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi said Sunday that members of the Senate have the right work with President Donald Trump in the lead-up to a Senate impeachment trial.
In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Bondi, who now is an adviser to Trump, pushed back on criticism of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., for taking cues from the White House.
"We should be working hand-in-hand with them,” she declared.
“We weren’t given a fair trial in the House at all… the president needs to be heard,” she said.
“We wouldn’t be doing our job if weren't working hand in hand with the Senate to clear the president of this charade, this sham… and we're not going to let it continue in the U.S. Senate,” she added.
“These are the senators who will decide if our president is impeached, which will not happen, we should and will work hand-in-hand with them. These are some of the weakest charges out there,” she said.
Bondi, asked about the effect of the impeachment process on Trump, responded: “This is difficult on his family.”
