As the deadline for a government shutdown looms by the end of the day Friday if a spending bill is not passed, President Donald Trump sent a tweet Tuesday stressing the importance of a border wall.
The tweet comes as the likelihood of a deal to prevent a shutdown has increased since Trump rejected a bipartisan proposal to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, which included, among other items, funds for border security.
Since then, Trump has revised a demand that funding for a wall on the southern border, and not just border security in general, be part of deal, something the Democrats reject.
The president's reported comments about Haiti and African nations being "s***hole" countries apparently has complicated the chances of the GOP and Democrats reaching an agreement to prevent the shutdown.
