Ben Carson just wants to use his "outside voice." Appearing on Fox Business'
"The Intelligence Report" program, Carson dismissed any notion of wanting to serve on Donald Trump's team.
"I would not want to be on the ticket or in the Cabinet," Carson said on the segment that aired Monday. "I personally feel that I can be considerably more effective as an outside voice. I was an outside voice before all this started."
As for whom Trump should select as his running mate, Carson said it's not imperative the choice be a woman or a minority.
"I want an American, somebody who loves America," Carson told host Trish Regan. "I don't care whether they're man, woman, black, white, Asian, whatever. If they fit that description, they're great with me."
Carson was brought on the show to discuss his role in bringing together up to 500 Christian leaders and Trump on June 21 in New York City; an opportunity for both parties to communicate to each other principles that are important to them and find common ground.
"I think they will discover, as I have, he's more reasonable than people think," Carson said of Trump.
