New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has told President-elect Donald Trump's transition team that he would be interested in becoming chairman of the Republican National Committee, Politico reported.
The position is open due to Reince Priebus having been tapped as Trump's chief of staff.
Christie, removed as head of Trump's transition team three weeks ago, has been rumored as a candidate for several posts within the president-elect's administration while also saying that he plans to still be governor when his term ends in January 2018.
