Senior White House sources have told Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy that President Trump has full confidence in Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and the job he is doing.
"I’m hearing from a number of senior people today that President Trump very much likes the job Reince Priebus is doing and has no intention of replacing him," Ruddy told Newsmax.
Ruddy's comments come after a CNN appearance Sunday on Brian Stelter's "Reliable Sources" when he defended the Trump administration from media attacks, but chided Priebus for White House messaging fumbles during the opening days of the administration.
Ruddy made clear to CNN and other press outlets his views were his own and were not based on any conversation with the president. Ruddy told CNN he thought Reince Priebus is a "good guy, well-intentioned."
After the CNN show Sunday, Priebus spoke to Ruddy. Ruddy summarized the conversation with a tweet:
Later Sunday, after talking with Priebus, Ruddy took to Twitter and called the chief of staff's White House plans "impressive" and promised to keep an open mind about Priebus "based on his results."
Also Sunday, Trump's special adviser Jared Kushner told Ruddy that Priebus is doing an "amazing job."
"I think President Trump has done a remarkable job in a short time, but the media are not talking about his successes," Ruddy said. "I like to tell people how I honestly see things. I also want Reince Priebus to succeed. If he does, we all do."
