Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer fired off a warning to President Donald Trump Monday after an FBI raid of Trump's lawyer's offices and home: firing Robert Mueller would be a mistake.

Mueller, a former FBI director, is leading the Department of Justice's Russia investigation.

On Monday, FBI agents acting on behalf of the probe raided the New York City offices of Trump's attorney Michael Cohen, his home, and a hotel room in which he has been staying as his apartment is renovated.

Trump blasted the raid as a "disgrace." Schumer wrote three tweets that cautioned Trump against firing Mueller.

The prospect of Trump firing Mueller has been raised before, but in each instance the president ultimately said he would not do so.

The Washington Post reported Monday that Cohen is under investigation for wire fraud, bank fraud, and campaign finance violations.
