Democrats spent most of President Donald Trump's speech to Congress sitting quietly in their chairs, but they erupted in laughter twice.

Trump was not going for laughs at the time, but when he said near the beginning, "We have begun to drain the swamp of government corruption," those on the Democratic seemed to burst out in spontaneous twitters.

They laughed again near the end when he said, "The time for trivial fights is behind us."

Democrats have accused Trump of appointing members of the very Washington "swamp" to his Cabinet, and he has continued his fights with rivals on Twitter.

But laughs were not the only audible responses from Democrats. They voiced a loud "Ohhhh," when he announced the creation of a new Homeland Security office called VOICE – Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement.

"We are providing a voice to those who have been ignored by our media, and silenced by special interests," Trump promised.

As soon as Trump's speech ended, most Democrats beat a quick path for the door, leaving almost half the chamber empty before Trump could even leave his podium.
