Kellyanne Conway, top adviser to President Donald Trump, apologized to him after plugging his daughter Ivanka's clothing line during a televised interview, CNN reports.
The news network notes a senior administration official said Trump told Conway that he backed her up "completely."
And Conway later tweeted Trump supported her.
She also tweeted:
During an appearance on Fox News, Conway had urged viewers to "go buy Ivanka's stuff."
CNN notes the comments could violate a federal law barring public employees from making an "endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernment capacity."
