President Donald Trump reiterated Tuesday a wall on the southern U.S. border "must" be part of any bill on a permanent solution to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

The president took to Twitter:

Trump met with a bipartisan group of legislators to discuss immigration reform, deciding that efforts would concentrate on four immediate issues: border security, chain migration, DACA and ending the visa lottery.

The Obama-era program shielded those brought to the U.S. illegally as children from deportation and gave them the right to work legally.

In September, President Trump said he would end the program, giving Congress until March to find a solution.

Trump last week asked Congress for $18 billion for the first phase of the wall along the border with Mexico, whose officials said they will not pay for the barrier.
