President Donald Trump said Wednesday he wants to solve the problem for the estimated 800,000 illegal immigrants who came into the country as children, but wants to ensure border security in the deal.

"A lot of these people are in the military, they have jobs," Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity. "But if we're going to do something, we have to get something in return."

What he wants, Trump said, "is tremendous border regulation, I want the wall, and we're going to get other things."

Trump said it is unclear whether he and Republicans in Congress will be able to work out a deal with Democrats, "But it would be wonderful to solve the DACA problem."

DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and Trump noted many of those brought in were so young they do not speak the language of their home countries.

He said there is no guarantee of success, but "in order to solve that, we want a wall, and we want border security."
