Hillary Clinton's call for Democrat nominee Joe Biden to refuse to concede to President Donald Trump on election night is an "eerie" foreshadowing of plans being made by Democrats, Rep. Dan Crenshaw said Wednesday.
"How bold she is with just laying out their plan like that?" the Texas Republican said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "We all know that's the plan, right? Create as much chaos around elections as possible. You should find it very suspicious our institution of voting is the one thing Democrats don't want any regulation on. Why is that? They have built a narrative, don't concede, universal mail-in ballots. No voter ID."
He added that Democrats have started to build the narrative that if Trump wins, it will be an "illegitimate" victory.
"They want to create chaos in the election," said Crenshaw. "They want to be able to tinker with the chaos and claim victory even when they didn't win."
Meanwhile, the congressman and former Navy SEAL officer, who lost his right eye in the War in Afghanistan because of an improvised explosive device, said the Republican National Convention's theme Wednesday night is that America is the land of heroes, and the message of speeches will be that the United States is "a good place with a good foundation."
"We want to be the party that teaches our kids to love America, and I think that's what you are going to hear tonight," Crenshaw added.
The lawmaker also said he visited the Emergency Preparedness Center in Houston Tuesday, and noted that the city will remain "Houston strong" as Hurricane Laura, which is expected to land overnight as a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane, approaches.
Houston is projected to be on the edge of the storm and to have "higher winds but certainly not the kind of rainfall that say we saw during Harvey," said Crenshaw. "People need to be ready ... we have done this before."
