GOP Rep. Darrell Issa on Sunday predicted the Obama administration "whitewash will continue" for Hillary Clinton when Attorney General Loretta Lynch goes to Capitol Hill to talk about the email investigation — and decision not to prosecute — the former secretary of state.
In an interview on Fox News'
"Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo," the California lawmaker, who serves on the House Judiciary Committee, said he expects Lynch will "fall back on her earlier statement that she's simply going to take the career professionals' recommendations, even though … the FBI director [James Comey] ignored the fact that [Clinton] lied before Congress."
"My assumption is that this whitewash will continue, and it will include the attorney general," he said of her expected Tuesday appearance.
He also derided Comey's recommendation not to prosecute Clinton, saying, "I think he blinked.
"He could have presented the facts as he presented them in that initial interview, and skipped anything beyond that," Issa said. "He presented to the American public her guilt and then made this assumption that she couldn't be prosecuted."
"But the American people on November 8th are going to evaluate what they now know," he said. "They know that she did set up the server, she did transmit and receive vast amounts of classified materials, and they should have been classified at the time…. And then she lied about it. "
Issa also said he supported the party's nominee, Donald Trump, adding: "If you look at the likely people that would lead government in a Trump administration, I think what you see is a lot of people who want to make America safe again."
