Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., is refusing to end his reelection campaign following Tuesday’s runoff election, vowing to “exhaust every legal recourse” in a race that Newsmax has called for his Democrat opponent.
“As we’ve said repeatedly over the last several weeks and as recently as this evening, this is an exceptionally close election that will require time and transparency to be certain the results are fair and accurate and the voices of Georgians are heard,” the Perdue campaign said in a statement on Twitter. “We will mobilize every available resource and exhaust every legal recourse to ensure all legally cast ballots are properly counted. We believe in the end, Senator Perdue will be victorious.”
Newsmax has called the election for Perdue’s Senate seat for Democrat Jon Ossoff, who won just over 50% of the vote as of Wednesday morning.
“It is with humility that I thank the people of Georgia for electing me to serve you in the United States Senate. Thank you for the trust that you have placed in me,” Ossoff said in a video released on Wednesday.
