Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., is favored by 51% of Georgia voters, while Democrat challenger Jon Ossoff is supported by 48% in a new Emerson College poll conducted ahead of the Jan. 5 runoff.
Here are highlights from the survey:
- 53% of male voters favor Perdue, compared to 47% who back Ossoff.
- 50% of female voters back Ossoff, while 49% favor Perdue.
- 49% of those planning to vote early back Perdue, compared to 49% who support Ossoff.
- 31% say the most important issue is the economy, followed by 24% who say the COVID-19 response is. In third place was healthcare, with 15% saying it's most important.
The Georgia poll, conducted from Dec. 14-16, surveyed 605 voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
