Sen. Dean Heller's, R-Nev., support of Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court could cost him re-election in Nevada this fall, Politico reports.

That is because Heller is the only the GOP senator defending a seat in a state Hillary Clinton won in the 2016 presidential election, and Democrats are working hard to push him out.

"After failing to mobilize voters effectively around the GOP blockade of Merrick Garland two years ago, Democrats are determined to take advantage of their one chance to make a Republican pay for the party's Supreme Court machinations," Politico's James Arkin and Burgess Everett wrote.

Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, who supports Heller's opponent, first-term Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen, told Politico the Supreme Court battle is helping to "supercharge" Rosen's campaign.

Democrats also tell Politico that Heller's quick endorsement of Kavanaugh helps them portray him as a Trump yes-man.
