Herman Cain said Democrats were trying to buy congressional seats in Georgia's special election.
"A typical congressional race in Georgia would cost about $2 million during a normal cycle," Cain wrote in a Canada Free Press op-ed Saturday. "Jon Ossoff has more than $8 million supporting his campaign, most of it consisting of outside-Georgia money – including a fair amount coming out of Washington, D.C."
Ossoff is running to replace former Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., who stepped down to become the president's Secretary of Health and Human Services. He is currently leading a crowded field of candidates, including more than a handful of Republicans, in a deep red state.
Ossoff, 30, had $8.3 million in contributions compared to $717,500 for Republican Bob Gray. He has also had a tremendous amount of national support and the race has garnered attention from President Donald Trump, who said Ossoff wanted to "protect criminals, allow illegal immigration and raise taxes!"
"Although this race is not over yet, it does show just how close you can come to stealing an election if you have enough money," Cain said. "The Democrats may come up a little short on the money, but it appears they are way short on a compelling and credible candidate."
