Democrats are already sounding the alarm on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, dinging the upstart for her immaturity and extreme views and attitudes that could thrust the party over the ideological cliff, Fox News reports.
Hers is a political witch's brew that Democrats fear portends bad endings if she becomes the face of the party.
"When I see somebody who really says she's a socialist -- she's a very captivating, charismatic candidate -- when you look at those policies, those policies will not be supported in many places across America," former Sen. Joe Lieberman told Fox News.
"If her win makes her into what Kellyanne Conway called the new face of the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party's not going to have a very bright future," Lieberman said.
"Meteors fizz out,” Rep. Alcee Hastings told Fox News. “What she will learn in this institution is that it’s glacial to begin with, and therefore no matter how far you rise, that’s just how far you will ultimately get your comeuppance."
All this hubbub over a woman who hasn't even won an election yet. Ocasio-Cortez pulled off a stunning defeat of Rep. Joe Crowley in New York but continues to joust with the longtime Democratic stalwart, thought to be the next Democratic leader in the House.
“Once an election is over and you win, why are you still angry?” Rep. Lacy Clay, D-Mo., said on Fox. “I think it’s a lack of maturity on her part, and a lack of political acumen, for her to be that petty."
