Rep. Devin Nunes-R-Calif., has raised about $5 million during the second quarter for his re-election bid, the Washington Examiner is reporting.

The Examiner said Nunes, an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, has received donations from tens of thousands of grassroot contributors. Nunes serves as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

The Examiner labeled Nunes a "fundraising geyser."

This quarter's total is four times the $1.25 million Nunes raised in the first three months of the year. In all, he has $6.1 million in the bank to spend on his re-election, the website said.

Nunes is facing Democratic challenger Andrew Janz, a Fresno County prosecutor, in the congressional race.

Registered Republican voters outnumber Democrats by 10 percentage points in the district, according to the Los Angeles Times.
