Hillary Clinton is only running for the White House because she and former President Bill Clinton "want power in order make money," political strategist Dick Morris said Wednesday.
"They wanted money in order to get power," Morris told Brian Sullivan on CNBC. "Give me campaign contributions.
"Now, they want power in order to make money."
Morris is the co-author of The New York Times best-selling book, "Armageddon: How Trump Can Beat Hillary Clinton."
Regarding the Clinton Foundation, Morris said that Hillary Clinton should "close it down" because of her presidential bid.
"Announce that you'll keep it closed. Show that you've learned your lesson."
The Associated Press reported Tuesday that 85 of the 154 people representing private interests who met or had telephone conversations scheduled with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state had donated as much as $156 million to the foundation.
At least 40 contributed more than $100,000 each, while 20 gave over $1 million, the AP reported.
"Eighty-five of them were donors to the Clinton Foundation," Morris said. "A majority of them.
"So, it's like she had a cash register on the receptionist's desk. Ka-ching!
"What Hillary needs to do is say: 'I realize there are conflicts with the Clinton Foundation. I'm not going to let that happen if I'm president — and we're going to close it down.
"But she won't do that."
