Donald Trump Tuesday night dumped on House Speaker Paul Ryan and the "establishment" GOP leaders — describing them as the "shackles" that've held him back in his White House race — and suggesting Ryan might not have his same job under a Trump administration.
In a fiery interview on "The O'Reilly Factor," the GOP nominee was pressed about his Tuesday morning tweet that declared:
"What shackles did you have on?" host Bill O'Reilly asked.
"It's not a question of holding back, no," he replied. "But they don't give support, they don't give the kind of support. You know we got more votes, more than 14 million votes, more than anybody in the history of the Republican primaries, and they don't give the support," he said of the GOP politicians who've un-endorsed the candidate.
Ryan, though not rescinding his endorsement, has said he won't defend Trump any longer and will concentrate on maintaining the GOP majorities in the House and Senate.
"I think maybe I'm better off without their support if you want to know the truth," Trump said.
"We have a group of people that want to see America be great again, and Paul Ryan, you know — open borders and amnesty… and bad budgets… very, very bad budgets. Frankly, the only one that Obama negotiate well with is Paul Ryan… that's the only negotiation he can win," Trump jibed.
"I wouldn't want to be in a foxhole with these people, including Ryan – especially Ryan," he added later.
"I think we should get support, and we don't get the support from guys like Paul Ryan," he added. "I don't want his support. … I don't care about his support. What I want to do is win for the people, because Hillary Clinton, she is a disaster. … And four more years of [President Barack] Obama, which will be worse than Obama, but four more years of Obama through Hillary Clinton, this country can't take it. "
He also defiantly said if he was elected, he'd be able to manage a Congress with many members that he's now criticizing, especially Ryan in the House and Sen. John McCain in the upper chamber.
"He was desperate to get my endorsement," he said of McCain's primary. "And then all of a sudden, you know, he does the unendorsement thing."
"He didn't like the tape thing," O'Reilly responded.
"Give me break," Trump answered back. "He's never heard salty language before? John McCain who probably has the dirtiest mouth in the Senate?…"
"You're going to need these guys," O'Reilly said of McCain and Ryan."
"They'll be there. McCain will be there, I would think that Ryan maybe wouldn’t be there, maybe he’ll be in a different position. … they'll all be there."
"I get along," he insisted. ""I get along with people. I get along with them."
He also said he's not worried about appealing to women voters in light of his less 2005 hot-mic video that re-emerged last week.
"Locker room talk, and most people have heard it before," he said.
"What women want, you know, we do the child care program that Ivanka wanted. I agree with her 100 percent," he said. "They want safety, they want law and order, a police department that's allowed to do its job, they want justice for all. They want a lot of things that everybody else wants, and Hillary Clinton can't do it."
