President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to challenge Congress to pass budget legislation for the upcoming fiscal year before its August recess, saying "Democrats are doing everything possible to obstruct, all they know how to do."
Trump said funding for the border wall and security "should be included" and that his administration was waiting on the confirmation of "almost 300 nominations" in his post.
Trump signed a $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill in March, averting a federal shutdown and keeping the government operating through the end of the current fiscal year, Sept. 30.
The deal gave President Trump only $1.6 billion to begin building and replacing segments of a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico.
In addition, more than 140 key positions in the Trump administration need to be filled.
The House begins its recess on July 28, while the Senate goes out on Aug. 3. Congress resumes session on Sept. 4, after Labor Day.
