President Donald Trump offered praise for Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., Monday before the swearing-in ceremony of CIA Director Gina Haspel.
"A very courageous man. He’s courageous, Congressman Devin. Thank you very much for being here. I appreciate it," Trump said Monday, Politico reported.
The congressman has been at odds with the Justice Department after he and other Republicans in the House of Representatives pushed for details about a source that was believed to have helped the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Trump campaign contacts before the 2016 presidential election, the report noted.
Nunes, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said he would not meet with Justice Department officials until he gets the documents, The Hill reported Sunday.
A Democratic ad campaign in California is taking aim at Nunes, saying he is focusing on national issues, not on issues within his district.
