Donald Trump Wednesday asked his Twitter followers to donate "whatever you can" to his White House campaign on the same day he said that he had raised $51 million for his effort and for other Republicans last month.

The tweet includes a link to a "Make a Donation" page on the Trump campaign's website, with checkoffs ranging from $10 to "other."

Trump, who has said that he was now accepting contributions at the request of the Republican National Committee, posted the tweet the same day he announced the $51 million haul — with $26 million online last month.

Some of the funds are going to the RNC, as agreed to previously. Trump and the RNC also raised $25 million during 22 events in June and the final week of May, the campaign said.

In May, Trump's campaign raised a little over $3 million from donors and the committee pulled in about $11 million, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

By contrast, Clinton said last week that she had raised almost $70 million in June for her campaign and for Democrats.

That included about $40 million that went directly into her campaign coffers.
