Donald Trump said this week's GOP convention is the first time Hillary Clinton will face the full frontal assault of the Trump machine, the Republican nominee told the Washington Examiner in an exclusive interview.

"I haven't started," Trump told the Examiner. "I guess you could say we'll start during the convention but we're really going to get it in gear right after the convention."

Meanwhile, Clinton has spent $100 million on negative ads, Trump said, whose coronation as the GOP nominee will be complete this week in Cleveland.

"They're such lies . . . Just like she lied with her emails, she's lying on the ads," he said. "It's the only chance she's got. She's got to spend a lot of money on ads because her career is a total sham."

Regarding Sarah Palin, Trump told the Examiner that the former running mate of John McCain was indeed asked to speak at the convention, but that the distance was problematic.

"We love Sarah. Little bit difficult because of, you know, she's got a — it's a long ways away," Trump told the Examiner. "But Sarah will always be with us and Sarah is involved and very much involved in the campaign."

Trump said he'd think about involving one of his children in a Trump White House, but said their responsibilities are with his many businesses.

"It's a phenomenal business and they'll stay and run the business," Trump told the Examiner. "And they'll have 100 percent control. I'll have nothing to do with the business."
