Donald Trump took credit for Hillary Clinton saying the term "radical Islamism" when referring to terror threats from the Islamic State in Syria, Iraq, and other regions.
The likely Republican presidential nominee and other party members have frequently taken President Barack Obama and other Democrats to task for their refusal to describe terror threats as "radical Islam." Trump tweeted that he believes Clinton is now following his lead:
Clinton said on NBC's "Today Show" that she will believes "radical Islamism" and "radical jihadism" mean the same thing and that the terms being used were not important.
"I'm happy to say either, but that's not the point. All this talk and demagoguery and rhetoric is not going to solve the problem. That's just plain dangerous and it plays into ISIS' hands," she said on "Today."
The Hill pointed out that "radical Islamism" is not the same term that Republicans frequently use, "radical Islam."
"Islamism" is a term used to describe Islam as an ideology, not a religion, according to academics in the Hill report.
In an earlier tweet Trump said Obama should resign if he doesn't use the term "radical Islamic terrorism."
