Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is set to meet with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in New York on Wednesday,
The Washington Post reports.
Kissinger, who served under Republican Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, is considered an elder statesman of the party. Now 92 years old, Kissinger also met with GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin in 2008.
The Post quoted three people close to Trump as confirming the planned meeting, though neither Trump nor Kissinger commented.
The two have been speaking by phone for weeks, and Trump's foreign policy aligns with Kissinger's realist worldview that focuses more on national interest.
