Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has
called Mitt Romney a choker and a loser who should go into retirement.
Speaking on Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM , Trump said "Romney's a loser. He lost the [2012] election badly."
"He should have won that election. That election was easier than this election… He choked. He was a choker. Now he goes around having meetings about Donald Trump. He ought to go into retirement and relax, because he's wasting a lot of people's time."
Romney has sharply criticized Trump's campaign, and at his annual summit over the weekend for Republican leaders at his home in Park City, Utah said he worried about the example a Trump presidency could set for the future, one that could lead to "trickle-down racism,"
ABC News reported.
"I love what this country is built upon and its values, and seeing this is breaking my heart, for the party that means so much," Romney added.
When Trump was asked by Breibart if Romney would rather see Clinton as president rather than himself, the real estate mogul said "He's a very jealous guy. He's got a lot of problems. I watched his statement over the weekend. Actually, it was sort of sad and pathetic at the same time."
Trump said that if Republicans want to win this election, "they better get smart and they better start sticking together.
