President Donald Trump issued a tweet on Sunday once again praising his own performance while criticizing the Democratic Party for blaming its election loss on Russian interference.

Trump sent out the tweet as he returned to Washington after spending Thanksgiving and the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida with his family, The Washington Times reported.

The attempt to play down the significance of the investigations into Russian meddling in last year’s presidential election comes as Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team is expected this week to talk with White House communications director Hope Hicks, one of Trump’s closest confidants, the New York Daily News reported.

Last week, lawyers for former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn reportedly cut off communications with Trump’s lawyers concerning the investigation, which some have seen as a possible sign that Flynn is cooperating with the special counsel’s probe.

Trump on Twitter also touted the Republican tax plan, saying it was "getting better and better."
