President Donald Trump on Sunday said the "fake news media" refused to report that there were "enthusiastic supporters lining the roads" as he left his resort in Florida.

Several local news outlets reported over the weekend that Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort had become a draw for anti-Trump protesters. The Palm Beach Post on Sunday said protesters lined the street where Trump took a motorcade to the airport, with some demonstrators opposing the North Dakota Access oil pipeline and some picketing in support of Obamacare.

The Post, though, did mention that Trump supporters were also in tow as Trump readied to leave Palm Beach to fly back to Washington, D.C., after a visit with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The Associated Press, meanwhile, reported on Saturday that thousands of protesters gathered outside Trump’s resort the last time he was in town to voice opposition against his executive order temporarily banning refugees and citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from traveling into the United States.

Trump has criticized the news media on several occasions, but has mostly slammed the New York Times and CNN. On Sunday he also called out CNN for cutting off Sen. Bernie Sanders when Sanders jokingly referred to CNN as fake news during an interview with Erin Burnett, an interview that was interrupted because of technical difficulties
