Trump: 'I Want to See Merry Christmas,' Not Happy Holidays

Donald Trump says he wants to hear more "Merry Christmas" and less "Happy Holidays" during the Yuletide season.

But that's not exactly what the billionaire developer has done himself over the years, according to Right Wing Watch.

During an appearance at the Values Voter Summit on Friday, Trump said of the so-called "War on Christmas":

"The word ‘Christmas.' I love Christmas. I love Christmas. You go to stores, you don't see the word 'Christmas.' It says 'Happy Holidays' all over. I say, 'Where's Christmas?'

"I tell my wife, 'Don't go to those stores. I want to see Christmas. I want to see Christmas.'

Other people can have their holidays but Christmas is Christmas.

"I want to see 'Merry Christmas.' Remember the expression 'Merry Christmas'? You don't see it anymore. You're going to see it if I get elected, I can tell you right now."

But Right Wing Watch and Mediaite report that in videos and tweets over the years, Trump has said "Happy Holidays" himself.

In a holiday message from the GOP frontrunner's Trump International Hotel & Tower posted on Tumblr last year, the words "holiday season" are used.

And Mediaite posts five tweets by Trump which include the term "Happy Holidays."

In one tweet posted in 2012, however, Trump does declare that "7 of 10 Americans prefer 'Merry Christmas' over 'Happy Holidays' … No surprise."
