Trump: Mulvaney 'Has No Right to Say' Dems Making a Show on Infrastructure Reform

President Donald Trump has reprimanded his chief of staff for implying that a bipartisan infrastructure package is simply for “show” on the part of Democrats.

White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney addressed the infrastructure package that Republicans and Democrats have been working out while appearing at the Milken Institute’s Global Conference in California last month.

"Do I think there’s an interest in doing it? Yes. Do I think there’s probably more interest, especially on the Democrats' part, to make a show for trying to get a deal? Yeah," Mulvaney said, according to The Hill.

"If Mick Mulvaney said that then he has no right to say that," Trump said during an interview with “The Next Revolution” on Fox News, which is set to air on Sunday. "He tells me didn’t say that, and he didn’t mean it. He said it’s going to be hard to finance."

But Trump did express concern that Democrats may not be sincere in their efforts.

"I also think we’re being played by the Democrats a little bit," he said. "You know, I think what they want me to do is say ‘Well, what we’ll do is raise taxes,’ and we’ll do this and this and this, and then they’ll have a news conference, see, Trump wants to raise taxes. So it’s a little bit of a game.”
