The chairman of the fundraising arm for Senate Democrats on Thursday said the party would "welcome support" from the Clintons ahead of November's midterms, the Washington Examiner reports.
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) chief Sen. Chris Van Hollen, also the only 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to this point, made the remarks at a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.
"We welcome support from everybody who wants to help, including Secretary Clinton and President Obama," the Examiner quoted Van Hollen, who also said "yes" when asked if that extended to former President Bill Clinton.
"As the head of the DSCC, we welcome those individuals and everybody that wants to help," Van Hollen said, adding that he doesn't speak for individual campaigns.
Hillary Clinton recently endorsed Gov. Andrew Cuomo in his reelection bid as well as Stacey Abrams, who won Tuesday's Democratic gubernatorial primary in Georgia.
Hillary Clinton is "going to continue to reach out to candidates and let them know that she's ready to help in any way that she can," Van Hollen said. "These are really conversations that go on between Secretary Clinton or President Obama and the particular campaign."
