President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign has stepped up its virtual outreach by releasing a new mobile app Thursday.
Geared toward rallying support digitally, the app was in the works before the coronavirus outbreak forced all campaign efforts to go virtual, according to NBC News.
Campaign manager Brad Parscale invited his Twitter followers to “Forget the #FakeNews media” and download the app to “get the facts straight” from the president.
Volunteers who download the app can work remotely and earn points they can redeem for signed memorabilia and special treatment at future events.
Supporters can start earning points by sharing the app with friends and sharing on social media. If a user earns 5,000 points they can redeem it for a $25 store discount, 28,000 points gets “expedited entry to skip the line” at a Trump campaign gathering and 100,000 will get a volunteer a photo with the president.
The app directs users to watch the 30-minute virtual show the campaign is hosting after each White House coronavirus task force briefing.
A “news” tab includes campaign statements and attacks on Joe Biden. In the “events” section of the app, all gatherings are currently listed as phone calls or livestreams.
