Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., expressed confidence former Vice President Joe Biden would comply with a congressional subpoena, despite him suggesting he might not.
"Joe Biden has said that he has always abided by every lawful order, and if there's a lawful order on subpoena, then I assume he would follow it," Warren told CBS in a video posted on Twitter, deflecting the controversy on the House Democrats' impeachment attempt through passed articles on abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
"Right now, we should be focused on the subpoenas that have already been issued for Don McGahn and Mick Mulvaney, who had first-hand knowledge of what the president did. That's where the testimony should come from in this impeachment trial."
"But that's the part Mitch McConnell and the president don't want to put out there in the public, and that's wrong."
Warren was speaking after Biden said there might not be a legal justification for him to testify before the Senate in the impeachment trial. Regardless, Biden should testify and follow the order of a subpoena, Warren said.
"He should, and I assume that he will," she told CBS.
Warren rejected this controversy as a White House and Senate Majority Leader McConnell, R-Ky., attempt to deflect from the articles of impeachment currently being held by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calf.
"Donald Trump is being impeached for abuse of power, and that's where our focus should be," Warren said. "Shame on him for trying to switch this over to something else."
