If Roy Moore is elected to represent Alabama in the Senate, he should have to go through an Ethics Committee investigation, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said Wednesday.
"There should be due process and an Ethics Committee investigation, and that would be a bipartisan step and then the appropriate remedies," Blumenthal told CNN. "Like many of my colleagues in the United States Senate on both sides of the aisle, I believe the women."
Moore has been accused by several women of acting sexually inappropriate with them while they were teenagers, and Blumenthal said he believes the retired state Supreme Court justice "committed these acts of unconscionable harassment and assault, and he will be judged by the U.S. Senate if he is elected."
He said he also hopes Alabama voters will show "not only good sense, but also moral principle" when they vote.
"There is a moral principle involved here," Blumenthal said. "Sexual harassment and sexual assault are never okay, and that's why we need to act against it here in the congress as well as every other industry."
