Former House staffer Evan McMullin will appear as an independent candidate for president on the Colorado ballot in November.

"Our campaign is a little over 72 hours old, and as our online community, small-dollar donations, volunteer base and media presence has exploded, we're thrilled to announce Evan is on the ballot in Colorado," said Joel Searby, the campaign's chief strategist.

"Colorado is the first of many states to come as our ballot access program kicks in to high gear and Evan takes his message nationwide."

McMullin, 40, announced his White House bid on Monday.

He is a former Mormon missionary who has worked for the CIA and for Goldman Sachs on Wall Street.

Before beginning his candidacy, McMullin was chief policy director of the House Republican Conference.
