FBI Director Christopher Wray said he won't discuss the Russian investigation with President Donald Trump.

"I am not going to discuss the investigation in question with the president, much less provide information from that investigation to him," Wray said at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing Tuesday.

Wray declined to say whether it was a conflict-of-interest for Trump to declassify a memo from House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes on the Russia investigation. The memo was critical of the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

"I leave it to others to characterize whether there's appearance or actual conflict of interest, but I think the president was fulfilling his responsibility in that situation," Wray said.

Wray said Trump would legally have the ability to declassify information about the probe if he received it from lawmakers, but that he would encourage Trump to talk to White House Counsel Don McGahn about recusal questions.
