Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, tweeted Friday his concern with the Democrats ending the filibuster and expanding the Supreme Court.

"My Democrat friends decry the last president for weakening our institutions with his words and behavior, but they now cheer the effort to pack the Supreme Court and end the Senate filibuster, which would forever diminish institutions at our Republic's foundation."

President Biden on Friday announced he would set up a commission of judges, scholars, and lawyers to look into expanding the Supreme Court. The news came after efforts of pressuring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to retire. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., denounced the commission citing it as a faux study, according to The Hill.

"This faux-academic study of a nonexistent problem fits squarely within liberals' years-long campaign to politicize the Court, intimidate its members, and subvert its independence," McConnell said.

Biden said in October he was "not a fan" of expanding the court. Under former President Donald Trump, Republicans put up 3 conservative justices to swing the balance of the court to 6-3.
