Fiorina, Boxer Ads Duel for Latinos

Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer has released her first Spanish-language ad, a response to recent Spanish spots aired on Carly Fiorina’s behalf by the National Organization for Marriage and the Susan B. Anthony List. The Fiorina ads focused on Boxer’s record of favoring abortion rights and gay marriage to demonstrate that the incumbent “doesn’t share our values.”

Boxer’s ad cites the GOP challenger’s support for Arizona’s immigration law rather than comprehensive reform, and also hits her on outsourcing during her tenure at Hewlett-Packard.

Responding to the Boxer ad, Fiorina spokeswoman Andrea Saul told the Los Angeles Times that Boxer had shown herself to be “no friend of California’s Latino community” in opposing the temporary worker program, and noted her failure to address the water woes in the Central Valley.

“With that track record it comes as no surprise that Boxer is trying to distract voters from the truth about her failure of over 28 years on the issues their community cares most about,” Saul said.
