All five living first ladies have weighed in on the Trump administration's controversial family separation policy — including Melania Trump's declaration she "hates to see" children taken from their parents.

In a Sunday opinion piece, Laura Bush wrote, while she understands the need to secure the borders, the zero-tolerance policy reminds her of Japanese internment camps.

Michelle Obama retweeted Bush, adding "sometimes truth transcends party."

Hillary Clinton also commented on Bush's tweet, calling the separation of the illegal immigrant families a "humanitarian crisis."

In a rare foray onto social media, Rosalynn Carter also issued a statement about the policy, calling it “disgraceful and a shame to our country.”
