President Donald Trump will be using a mail ballot for the Florida primary Tuesday.

But the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Trump, a critic of voting by mail, might not be mailing the ballot back in.

The president and his wife, Melania, used a provision permitted under Florida law that permits someone to pick up a ballot on their behalf. The Trumps have made the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach their official residence.

And Palm Beach Supervisor of Elections Wendy Sartory Link said a Trump representative brought in signed affidavits from the president and first lady Wednesday and picked up their ballots. Sentinel reporter Anthony Man tweeted copies of the affidavits.

The ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. Tuesday – when polls closed.

The newspaper noted Trump had someone pick up ballots and then return them for the March presidential primary.

The president has pushed back on mail-in voting as states grapple with how to handle in-person voting during the pandemic. He has claimed the practice is rife with fraud.

But he has also said Florida's election system is "safe and secure" and encouraged people in the state to vote by mail.
