President Donald Trump, perhaps the world's best-known New Yorker, is making the Winter White House his permanent home.
The president last month quietly filed a "declaration of domicile" saying the Mar-a-Lago resort he owns in Palm Beach, Florida, will be his permanent residence, The New York Times reports.
"If I maintain another place or places of abode in some other state or states, I hereby declare that my above-described residence and abode in the State of Florida constitutes my predominant and principal home, and I intend to continue it permanently as such," reads the document Trump filed with the Palm Beach County Circuit Court.
First lady Melania Trump also made the change.
Mar-a-Lago is a members-only club with a hefty price tag: $200,000 per year.
Since Trump took office, the resort has served as Trump's winter residence. It features a 75-foot tower, 54 guest rooms, lavish dining rooms and ballrooms. Amenities include two pools, a spa, croquet grounds, tennis courts, and a beach club.
The president paid $10 million for the property, though his 2017 financial disclosure estimates it to be worth more than $50 million.
Florida does not have a state income tax or inheritance tax, making it a prime location for the wealthy.
