Evangelist Franklin Graham takes issue with Hillary Clinton's stern lecture to Black Lives Matter activists, saying her message to stop trying to change hearts to achieve racial justice is exactly wrong.
In a video of Clinton's candid exchange with group members, the leading Democratic presidential contender declares: "I don’t believe you change hearts. I believe you change laws, you change the allocation of resources, and you change the way systems operate."
But Graham, who heads the foundation named after his father as well as the charity Samaritan's Purse,
disputes that on his Facebook page.
"Changed hearts do make a difference — and God is in the heart-changing business," Graham writes. "All lives matter to Him, regardless of the color of our skin."
"The way to true reconciliation between the races is through hearts changed by the One who created all of us, Almighty God," he adds.
Former Arkansas governor and preacher Mike Huckabee also spoke out about the mantra "black lives matter" as one that would have "appalled" civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
"When I hear people scream, ‘black lives matter,’ I think, of course they do. … But all lives matter."
"It’s not that any life matters more than another," Huckabee said. "That’s the whole message that Dr. King tried to present, and I think he’d be appalled by the notion that we’re elevating some lives above others."
