As President Barack Obama gets set to leave office in just over a week, a new Gallup poll reveals Americans believe history will judge his presidency positively.
"Overall, 47 percent say he will be remembered as an 'outstanding' or 'above average' president, while 35 percent believe he will be judged as 'below average' or 'poor,'" Gallup wrote in its poll report. "The current ratings are significantly more positive for him now than prior measurements taken late in his first term and early in his second term."
Here are how the poll results break down:
- 18 percent say he will go down in history as an "outstanding" president, compared to 10 percent in Feb. 2012.
- 29 percent believe he will be rated an "above average" president, compared to 28 percent in Feb. 2012.
- 18 percent say he will be remembered as an "average" president, compared to 26 percent in Feb. 2012.
- 17 percent say he will go down in history as a "below average" compared to 17 percent in Feb. 2012.
- 18 percent believe he will be rated "poor," compared to 18 percent in Feb. 2012.
