President Donald Trump’s approval rating is climbing, stoked by the release of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia report and good economic news, a new poll found.
In the latest Gallup survey, Trump’s approval rating ticked up to 46%, up slightly from 45% in the first part of April — and the highest to date for Trump in Gallup polling.
Here’s the breakdown:
- 91% of Republicans approve of the president, just short of the record high 92% he got among GOP respondents in a November Gallup survey.
- 12% of Democrats said they approve of Trump’s job performance, matching the previous high among Democrats recorded in April 2017.
- 37% of independents approve of Trump, down from 39 percent in the first half of April.
The poll, conducted from April 17-30, has a margin of error of plus or minute 4 percentage points.
